BUFFALO, N.Y. – Cortland finished first in 14 events and the Red Dragons defeated host Buffalo State, 158-94, in a men's swimming and diving dual meet Saturday afternoon.
Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.97) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:59.45), while
Lance Meeson (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) posted the top score in both 1-meter diving (235.75 points) and 3-meter diving (227.20 points), the latter as an exhibition entry after Cortland had already clinched the team title.
Danny Swift (Millerton/Webutuck) won the 50-yard butterfly (25.04) and
Ethan Domanico (New Windsor/Newburgh Free Academy) captured the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:55.21).
Alex Hilldale (Binghamton/Chenango Valley) won the 50-yard backstroke (25.45) and was second in 1-meter diving (207.75 points).
Jack Pagel (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas) was the 200-yard butterfly winner (2:11.68),
Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) won the 50-yard breaststroke (29.32), and
Jack-Henry Whalen (Yorktown Heights/Yorktown) took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle (22.43).
Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville) won the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.76),
Sam Zani (Rochester/Irondequoit) was the 200-yard breaststroke winner (2:34.12), and
Mason Arnberg (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) had the fastest time in the 200-yard IM (2:04.71) as an exhibition entry.
In addition, Zani, Hilldale, Swift and
Ryan Lerner (Washingtonville) posted the best time in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:32.17 as an exhibition entry.
Cortland heads to Geneseo next Saturday for a dual meet.
