OSWEGO, N.Y. – Devin Green scored 20 points, including 6-of-9 shooting from 3-point range, and Julien Crittendon added 14 points as Oswego defeated Cortland, 69-44, in the SUNYAC men's basketball opener for each team.
Eric Edwards (Binghamton) led Cortland (2-3, 0-1) with 12 points and also totaled six rebounds and two blocks.
AJ Morales (Hopewell Junction/Millbrook) made two 3-pointers and ended with eight points, and
Austin Grunder (Trumansburg/Charles O. Dickerson) led the Red Dragons with nine rebounds.
Green finished 7-of-10 overall from the field and added four rebounds for the host Lakers (4-1, 1-0). Crittendon registered three steals in addition to his 14 points, Jeremiah Sparks gathered in a game-high 14 rebounds and dished out four assists, and Jordan Brown contributed eight points.
Oswego made 9-of-23 3-pointers (39 percent) and finished at 40 percent overall from the floor. The Lakers limited Cortland to 29 percent shooting overall and 18 percent (5-of-28) from the arc.
Cortland held an early 6-2 lead before Oswego scored 13 straight points, including two Crittendon 3-pointers, to take a 15-6 advantage at the 12-minute mark of the half. The Lakers then fashioned a 12-3 run over the next nine minutes to extend their lead to 27-9. Oswego led 33-16 at halftime and by at least 17 points the entire second half.
Cortland hosts Brockport on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
