POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Cortland men's hockey team scored the final three goals of the game to secure a 4-1 victory at Potsdam Saturday night in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference, while the Bears dropped to 0-2 overall and in the league.
Sophomore
Cameron Knowlton (Kenai, AK/Charlotte Rush) scored the first two goals of his career for Cortland. Graduate student
Alex Storjohann (Phoenix, AZ/Kirkland Lake) netted a goal, and sophomore
Jona Hildreth (Lockport/Walpole Express) netted his first career goal. Junior
Nick Grupp (Depew/Brantford 99ers) recorded two assists, while five others each registered one assist. Junior goalie
Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) registered 42 saves.
Jack Bloem scored Potsdam's goal with Robert Clerc and Brett Horn picking up assists. Goalie Connor Green made 31 saves.
Knowlton opened the scoring at 17:19 of the first period before Bloem tied the game just 17 seconds later. Knowlton answered with the game-winning goal just 21 seconds before the end of the period to make it a 2-1 game.
Storjohann's power-play goal at the 4:04 mark of the second period put the Red Dragons ahead 3-1, and Hildreth completed the scoring at 10:27 of the period. Each team had a pair of power-play opportunities in the third period but couldn't convert as Cortland secured the 4-1 win.
