Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Cortland Edged at Manhattanville, 3-2, in Non-League Tilt

RYE, N.Y. – Manhattanville scored two second-period goals to erase an early deficit and the Valiants defeated visiting Cortland, 3-2, in a non-league men's ice hockey game at the Playland Ice Casino. 
 
All four losses for Cortland (5-4-1) this season have been one-goal decisions. Manhattanville improved to 7-4-1 and has won three of its last four games. 
 
Cortland took the lead 4:35 into the game on a Jona Hildreth (Lockport/Walpole Express) goal, assisted by Dorian Overland (Kingston, ON/Kingston Voyageurs) and Jacob Gaydos (Sandusky, OH/Wisconsin Rapid Riverkings). The Valiants tied the game with 6:45 left in the first on the first of two goals by Tristan Frese, set up by Mason Emoff and Jarod Lavallee. 
 
The Red Dragons regained the lead with 2:23 remaining in the opening period on a shorthanded goal by Michael Sciore (Syracuse/Buffalo Jr. Sabres), assisted by Ethan Homitz (Allison Park, PA/New Hampshire Monarchs). 
 
Emoff scored for Manhattanville 2:56 into the second to knot the game at 2-2. Lavallee and Niko Happo earned assists on the goal. The Valiants took the lead when Frese found the net, assisted by Glynn Robitaille and Troy Crosson, with 3:03 left in the second. 
 
Cortland held a 39-24 advantage in shots on goal in the game, including a 19-7 margin in the third. The Red Dragons pulled their goalie with just over a minute remaining and had a couple of good looks but couldn't net the equalizer. 
 
Manhattanville goalie Tyler Roy made 37 saves for the victory. Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) started in goal for Cortland and made 13 saves in 28:24. Owen Zdunski (Findley Lake/Chippewa Steel) played 30:23 between the pipes and registered eight saves while allowing one goal. Sciore, in addition to his goal, won 12-of-15 faceoffs for the Red Dragons.
