CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's soccer team lost to nationally 13th-ranked Misericordia, 7-1, in a non-league game at Holloway Field.

Katrina Klammer (Mahopac) made 13 saves and sophomore
Erica Gangemi (Syracuse/Westhill) scored her first collegiate goal for the Red Dragons, who are now 1-3-1 on the season.
Kaylee Sturans led Misericordia (5-0) with two goals and Kate Field had a goal and an assist. Emma Sweitzer, Michaela Fasolino, Maegan Allspach and Colleen Kinsella each scored once. Alexis Benedetto made four saves and didn't allow a goal over the first 64 minutes and Emma Stroud made one save over the final 26 minutes.
The Cougars took a 4-0 halftime lead on a Sweitzer goal in the fifth minute, a Fasolino penalty kick in the 21st minute, and two goals by Sturans just over two minutes apart later in the period. Field and Allspach scored in the first 2:05 of the second half to extend the lead to 6-0. Gangemi put Cortland on the board in the 76th minute with a shot inside the left post. Kinsella finished the scoring for the guests in the 79th minute.
