POTSDAM, N.Y. – Junior
Lizzy Sabatelle (Poughkeepsie/Roy C. Ketcham) scored her first career goal in the second half to break a 1-1 tie as the Cortland women's soccer team defeated Clarkson University, 2-1, Friday night in non-conference action. The Red Dragons improved to 2-3-1. The Golden Knights dropped to 2-3.
Senior
Jaden Galluzzo (Commack) also scored for Cortland. Sophomores
Erica Gangemi (Syracuse/Westhill) and
Simone Neivel (Syracuse/C.W. Baker) each recorded an assist. Junior goalie
Katrina Klammer (Mahopac) made two saves in earning her first career win after playing midfield and defense until this season.
Chloe Hodge tallied Clarkson's goal. Goalie Molly DiCaprio registered seven saves.
Hodge gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute with her second goal of the season. Galluzzo tied the game in the 41st minute off an assist from Gangemi. Sabatelle netted the game winner in the 71st minute with Neivel assisting on the goal to give the Red Dragons the 2-1 win.
