ALBANY, N.Y. – The Cortland women's volleyball team was never seriously threatened in a three-set win over host Russell Sage College. The Red Dragons won 25-8, 25-7, 25-9 in a match that took just under an hour to complete.
Cortland (7-2) remains in the Capital District for two matches Saturday at Union College. The Red Dragons face Skidmore at 2 p.m. and the host Dutchwomen at 4 p.m.
Hannah Southcott (Princeton, WV) led Cortland with 11 kills and a .526 attack percentage,
Maya Owens (Nyack) had eight kills, a .583 attack percentage and six digs, and
Nicole Van Pelt (Montgomery/Valley Central) registered eight kills, a .412 attack percentage, three aces and five digs.
Ryan Hinshaw (Aurora, IL/Joliet Catholic Academy) led the Red Dragons with 21 assists and eight digs and
Megan McMahon (Ballston Spa) dished out 10 assists.
Alexa Guedez (Rye/Rye Neck) recorded a team-high four blocks.
Olivia Doorley (Pearl River) and
Carly Haegele (Commack) each contributed seven digs.
Emma Parkington had five kills and Celia Gagnon added four kills for Sage (2-8).
Cortland hit .403 for the match with at least a .400 attack percentage in each set. The Red Dragons were .400 in both the first set (12 kills, two errors in 25 attempts) and third set (13 kills, three errors in 25 attempts), and .407 in the second set (12 kills, one error in 27 attempts).
