CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland opened its 2021-22 women's tennis season with a 9-0 dual-match loss to visiting New Paltz, the three-time defending SUNYAC champion. Cortland will host Plattsburgh Saturday, also in a SUNYAC match, at 11 a.m.
The tightest doubles match came on the second flight as New Paltz's Onalee Batcheller and Alexandra Dratch won 8-3 over
Abby Madigan (Endicott/Union-Endicott) and
Vyda Van Denburg (Kingston).
Madigan, playing at first singles, won three games in the second set versus Trinity Chow, one of the SUNYAC's top players over the last decade, in a 6-0, 6-3 setback.
