SYRACUSE, N.Y. –
Madi Monaghan (Chili/Gates-Chili) and
Taylor Williams (Slate Hill/Minisink Valley) each posted two victories and
Marissa Kordal (Eden) and
Caitlin Elsasser (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) earned one win apiece in Cortland's 157-137 women's swimming and diving dual meet loss at Division II Le Moyne College.
Monaghan won both the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.60) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.59), as well as finishing second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.04). Kordal won the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.43) and was runner-up in both the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.64) and the 200-yard IM (2:24.32). Elsasser took top honors in the 200-yard butterfly (2:23.75).
Since there was no 3-meter diving event, the 1-meter competition was broken down and scored as two parts. Williams won both with scores of 185.85 points and 234.35 points for a total score of 420.20 points.
Nicole Bellettiere (Slate Hill/Minisink Valley) was second in both sections, posting scores of 168.60 points and 219.95 points for a total of 388.55 points.
Emily Lantry (Massena/St. Lawrence) and
Mackenzie Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) each registered a pair of second-place finishes. Lantry was runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.53) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:31.56), while Dickman was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.07) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:44.23).
Kailyn Anselment (Queensbury/Glens Falls) finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (19:38.17).
Cortland will compete next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Oneonta. The meet was originally scheduled to be at home, but was recently changed to Oneonta.
