CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 2-0 home victory versus Brockport Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action at Holloway Field. The Red Dragons improved to 12-1-3 overall and 8-0-1 in the conference. The Golden Eagles dropped to 4-8-3 and 3-5-1.

The Red Dragons earned the top seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament and will face the winner of Oswego at Plattsburgh in the conference semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at a time to be determined. Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles earned the sixth seed and travel to face third-seeded New Paltz in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 29.

Graduate student Jaden Galluzzo (Commack) tallied a goal and an assist for Cortland. Graduate student Jayden Kelley (East Berne/Voorheesville) added a goal, and junior Kayla Valerioti (Oakdale/Connetquot) collected an assist.

Sophomore goalie Kristen Spendal (Dumont, NJ) turned aside five shots in posting her eighth shutout of the season for the Red Dragons. Graduate student Kayla Usborne (Knoxboro/Madison) registered 10 saves for Brockport.

Kelley scored the game-winning goal in the 29th minute. She took a pass from Galluzzo into the box and deposited a shot inside the left post from 15 yards out for her seventh goal of the season. Galluzzo made it a 2-0 score just 28 seconds into the second half with her team-high 14th goal of the season, drilling a left-footed shot into the upper left corner from 20 yards out.

The Golden Eagles generated an excellent chance to cut into the Cortland lead in the 63rd minute. Senior Camryn Pettit (Newark) hit a shot on a loose ball in the box that Spendal denied with a diving save at the left post, sending the ball over the end line.
