HERSHEY, PA. – Seven different players scored goals as the Cortland men's hockey team opened its season with a 7-2 win at Lebanon Valley Friday night in non-conference action.

Senior Jake Ballagh (Buffalo/New Hampshire Avalanche), junior Nate Berke (Buffalo/Buffalo Jr. Sabres), sophomores Anthony Bernardo (Hauppauge/P.A.L. Junior Islanders), Andrew Clifford (Gloversville/New Hampshire Avalanche) and Johnny Facchini (Succasunna, NJ/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) and freshmen Colby Seitz (Eden/Corpus Christi IceRays) and Nicholas Serio (Bayville/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) each netted a goal for the Red Dragons.

Senior Trevor Veneklase (Brentwood, TN/Seahawks Hockey Club) recorded two assists for Cortland. Senior Matt Jahn (Glan Allen, VA/Charlotte Rush), juniors Sutter Donegan (Cicero/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and Jona Hildreth (Buffalo/Walpole Express), sophomore Domenic Settimo (East Meadow/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) and freshman Zack Smith (Courtice/Cobourg Cougars) collected one assist apiece. Senior goalie Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) made 28 saves.

Jered Stevenson and Blake Tosto scored goals for the Flying Dutchmen. Artem Mikhaylov, Rais Francis, Brenden Yingling and Haralds Jirgens each recorded an assist. Goalie Ty Franchi turned aside 37 shots.

Stevenson gave Lebanon Valley a 1-0 lead 7:45 into the game, but Cortland answered with four straight goals to build a 4-1 advantage early in the second period. Blake made it a 4-2 game with a 5-on-3 power-play goal for the Flying Dutchmen heading into the third period. The Red Dragons put the game away with three third-period goals, one even-strength, one short-handed and one on the power play for the 7-2 victory.
