DALLAS, PA. – The nationally third-ranked Misericordia women's soccer team scored a goal in each half to earn a 2-0 win versus Cortland Wednesday night in non-conference action.
Kate Field and Sabrina Competiello each scored goals for the Cougars (9-0-1). Michaela Fasolino and Emma Sweitzer collected assists.
Sophomore goalie
Kristen Spendal (Dumont, NJ) made a season-high 10 saves for the Red Dragons (7-1-3). Goalie Madi Welliver registered three saves for Misericordia (9-0-1).
Field gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when she one-timed a cross from the right by Fasolino. Cortland kept the score at 1-0 when a defensive player stopped a shot at the goal line after a Cougar corner kick in the 31st minute. Competiello tallied an insurance goal in the 78th minute for the 2-0 final.
