CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's hockey team scored a pair of second-period goals and held off nationally third-ranked Geneseo in the third period to earn a 2-1 win in SUNYAC action Saturday night at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons improved to 4-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while the Knights dropped to 4-3-1 and 2-2-1.

Junior Jona Hildreth (Buffalo/Walpole Express) and freshman Devlin O'Kane (Chicago, IL/New Jersey 87's) netted goals for Cortland. Senior Giancarlo Romano (Yorktown/Connecticut RoughRiders), juniors Cameron Knowlton (Kenai, AK/Charlotte Rush) and Geordan Buffoline (Ballston Spa/Vermont Lumberjacks) and freshman Colby Seitz (Eden/Corpus Christi IceRays) each picked up an assist. Senior goalie Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) made 30 saves.

Junior Zach Rehbaum (Williamsville/Northern Cyclones) scored Geneseo's goal with junior Greg Koutsomitis (East Amherst/Jersey Hitmen) and sophomore Tommy Winn (Rochester/Jersey Hitmen) collecting assists. Senior goalie Matt Petizian (Mississauga, ON/Hawkesbury Hawks) registered 32 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Hildreth gave the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead just nine seconds into the second period after Cortland won the opening faceoff. Romano fed a pass to Knowlton on the right boards who fired the puck deep into Geneseo's zone. Hildreth skated to the puck and scored from just outside the crease. At 16:09, O'Kane made it a 2-0 game, scoring on a wrist shot from the left circle after Cortland kept the puck in Geneseo's defensive zone.

Rehbaum pulled the Knights to within 2-1 with a spinning one-time shot from the right side of the slot 10:49 into the third period. Geneseo pulled Petizian for an extra skater with 56 seconds remaining, but Durante made two saves to seal the 2-1 victory.
