CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior goalie
Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) registered 41 saves, including 21 in the third period, as the Cortland men's hockey team defeated nationally second-ranked Geneseo, 2-0, Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons improved to 11-9-1 overall and 6-5-1 (20 points) in the conference with their third win over a ranked team this season. The Knights dropped to 17-2-1 and 9-1-1 (28 points).

Michael Sciore (Syracuse/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and
Ethan Homitz (Allison Park, PA/New Hampshire Monarchs) each scored a goal for Cortland. Sophomore
Cameron Knowlton (Kenai, AK/Charlotte Rush) and freshman
Anthony Bernardo (Hauppauge/PAL Junior Islanders) recorded one assist apiece.
Junior Matt Petizian (Mississauga, ON/Hawkesbury Hawks) turned aside 20 shots for Geneseo.
After a scoreless first period in which Geneseo outshot Cortland, 13-7, Sciore gave Cortland a 1-0 lead at 12:24 of the second period with his eighth goal of the season, making a move from behind the end line and spinning at the right side of the net with a shot that beat Petizian.
Homitz gave the Red Dragons a 2-0 lead at 6:33 of the third period. After taking a pass from Bernardo, Homitz carried the puck into the left circle and put in a shot that deflected off a Knight player for his sixth goal of the season. Geneseo pulled Petizian for an extra skater with 1:52 remaining but could only manage one shot on goal as Cortland held on for the 2-0 victory.
