Cortland Earns 3-3 OT Tie at Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Brockport men's hockey team scored with 14 seconds left in regulation to earn a 3-3 come-from-behind overtime tie versus Cortland Saturday night in SUNYAC play.

Senior Ethan Homitz (Allison Park, PA/New Hampshire Monarchs) and sophomore Sutter Donegan (Cicero/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) each registered a goal and an assist for Cortland (11-9-2, 6-5-2 SUNYAC/21 points). Graduate student Alex Storjohann (Phoenix, AZ/Kirkland Lake) netted a goal, and senior Shane Beaulieu (Port Perry, ON/Powassan VooDoos) and freshman Anthony Bernardo (Hauppauge/PAL Junior Islanders) collected one assist apiece. Junior goalie Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) stopped a season-high 45 shots.

Mitchell Parsons, Andrew Harley and Anthony Hora scored goals for Brockport (13-7-2, 6-5-2 SUNYAC/20 points). Ryan Romeo recorded two assists, while four others each picked up one assist. Nolan Egbert started in goal, making five saves in 8:17 before giving way to Aidan Curry who stopped all 17 shots he faced in 55:44.

Cortland built a 3-0 lead just 8:17 into the game on even-strength goals from Donegan and Homitz wrapped around a power-play goal by Storjohann. Parsons made it a 3-1 game at 12:00 of the first period before Harley cut the Cortland lead to 3-2 at 16:02 of the second period. The Golden Eagles pulled Curry for an extra skater with just over a minute to play, and the move paid off when Hora scored at 19:46 to send the game into overtime. After a Cortland penalty at the 2:10 mark of overtime, Brockport put five shots on net, all denied by Durante. Cortland then had a man-advantage for the last 34 seconds of the game, but Curry turned aside the Red Dragons' lone shot on goal to preserve the 3-3 tie.
