SALISBURY, MD. – The nationally top-ranked and defending DIv. III national champion Salisbury women's lacrosse team built a 9-3 lead at the half and went on to a 19-6 win versus 22nd-ranked Cortland Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons dropped to 1-4, while the Sea Gulls improved to 8-0.

Graduate student Hannah Lorenzen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) led Cortland's offense with four goals and one assist. Sophomore Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) tallied one goal and one assist, senior Lauren Hopsicker (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) scored a goal and senior Hannah Keech (Penn Yan/Penn Yan Academy) added an assist.

Graduate student goalie Paige Potter (Cortland) registered three saves for the Red Dragons. Lorenzen secure six draw controls, junior Madelyn Czyz (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) finished with five draws, four ground balls and three caused turnovers and Keech won three draws.

Erin Scannell netted a game-high five goals to pace the offense for Salisbury. Delaney Hill score four goals, Lydia McNulty had three goals and an assist, Emma Skoglund tallied two goals and two assists and Leah Vilov contributed two goals and one assist. Three others each scored a goal.

Goalie Mary Claire Hisle stopped four shots through three quarters before giving way to Kaitlyn Hunsinger, who made three fourth-quarter saves. Hill also chipped in with four draws and two ground balls, while Vilov won three draws.
