CORTLAND, N.Y. – Twelve different players scored goals as the Cortland men's lacrosse team opened SUNYAC play with a 19-7 win versus Plattsburgh Saturday afternoon at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in the conference. The Cardinals fell to 2-6 and 0-1.
Senior

Senior Stephen Kane (Hampton, MA/Minnechaug Regional) paced Plattsburgh's offense with a game-high five goals. Senior Zach Gill (Miller Place/Rocky Point) and freshman Kyle Ruland (Medford/Patchogue-Medford) each scored a goal, while four others contributed one assist apiece.
Senior Christian Bassi (Windham, NH/Kimball Union) started in the cage for the Cardinals, making 16 saves through three quarters. Sophomore Dan Clements (Putnam Valley) registered two saves in the fourth quarter. Senior Daniel Umbro (Harrison) won 10-of-18 faceoffs and collected three ground balls. Graduate student Max Burgio (Niskayuna) finished with five ground balls and two caused turnovers, senior Justin Rocovich (Bohemia/Connetquot) collected five ground balls and junior Julian Pigliavento (Niskayuna) added four ground balls.
