CORTLAND, N.Y. – Junior Matt Solleder (Ramsey, NJ/Don Bosco Prep) scored a game-high five goals to lead the Scranton men's lacrosse team to a 13-11 victory over nationally 17th-ranked Cortland Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The Red Dragons fell to 1-2 with the loss, while the Royals evened their record at 2-2.

Sophomore Chris Crapanzano (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) added three goals for Scranton. Senior Mike Bouhall (Lynbrook) finished with two goals and two assists, senior Finn Duignan (Wantagh) netted two goals and junior Mitchell Kozak (Floral Park) recorded five points on on goal and four assists.
Freshman goalie Evan Rosa (Weehawken, NJ/Pennington School) made 17 saves. Freshman A.J. Perkell (Valley Stream) won 17-of-26 faceoffs and collected three ground balls. Senior Collin Pierce (Chatham, NJ) secured five ground balls, and sophomore Andrew Lord (Havertown, PA/Haverford) contributed three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
In a game in which neither team owned more than a two-goal lead, the outcome came down to the final minutes. The Red Dragons led, 5-3, after the first quarter, but the Royals grabbed a 7-6 lead at the half. Scranton maintained the one-goal lead, 11-10, after three quarters.
Solleder's fifth goal of the game at 13:42 of the fourth quarter put the Royals up, 12-10. Ford pulled Cortland to within 12-11 with his first career goal as a Red Dragon at the 7:20 mark. Late in the game, the Red Dragons held possession but turned the ball over with 1:29 to play. After a Scranton timeout, Crapanzano scored into an open goal with 43 seconds left as Cortland worked to double the ball. The Red Dragons won the ensuing faceoff and turned the ball over with 24 seconds on the clock. A late turnover by the Royals led to a final Cortland shot that was denied as the Royals clinched the 13-11 win.
