The Red Dragons rallied to tie the game at 8-8 after 45 minutes of play and took a 9-8 lead one minute into the fourth quarter on Lorenzen's fourth goal of the game. The Golden Knights strung together three goals in just over a two-minute span to grab an 11-9 lead with 7:05 left in the game. Goodrich brought Cortland to within 11-10 with a goal at 3:52 off an assist from Lorenzen.

The Red Dragons won the ensuing draw control, but Christiansen denied Keech's bid to tie the game. After a good clear by Clarkson, Potter came up with a stop at 2:22, but Cortland turned the ball over with just over a minute to play. The Golden Knights worked a good clear and attempted to run out the clock, but Lorenzen forced a turnover with 15.7 seconds on the clock.
