#23 Cortland Continues to Roll with 17-4 Win at Oswego

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The nationally 23rd-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team held Oswego scoreless for the first 29 minutes, 14 seconds of the game in building a big lead on its way to a 17-4 SUNYAC victory Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons won their eighth consecutive game, improving their record to 9-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference. The Lakers fell to 4-9 and 3-3.

Graduate student Hannah Lorenzen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) led nine Cortland goal scorers with a game-high four. Senior Lauren Hopsicker (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) tallied three goals and one assist. Sophomore Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) finished with two goals and two assists, and senior Amy Hoeffner (Bay Shore) and freshman Gabby Meager (Syracuse/West Genesee) each netted two goals.

Senior Hannah Keech (Penn Yan/Penn Academy) and junior Matisyn Schaut (Syracuse/West Genesee) recorded one goal and one assist apiece for the Red Dragons. Freshmen Nicole Iapoce (Clintondale/Highland) and Eva Kloepfer (Syracuse/West Genesee) each scored the first goal of her career, while graduate student Emily Goebel (Penfield) and sophomore Danielle Regan (Brewster) chipped in with an assist.

Graduate student Paige Potter (Cortland) turned aside eight shots in goal for Cortland. Hoeffner added four ground balls and four draw controls, Lorenzen contributed three ground balls and three draws, graduate student Kayla Sweeney (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers and sophomore Holly Wright (Huntington) caused two turnovers.

Isabella Lembo scored two fourth-quarter goals, Logan Castiglione tallied one goal and two assists, Shae McConnell netted a goal and Madison recorded an assist for Oswego.

Goalie Sarah Kamide made 10 saves. Sela Wiley scooped up six ground balls and won six draws, Castiglione, Davis and Julia Quirk each secured three ground balls.
