#21 Red Dragons Hold Off Nazareth, 18-15, in Non-Conference Action

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –  Graduate student Hannah Lorenzen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) scored a season-high eight points on a season-best seven goals and one assist to lead the nationally 21st-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team to an 18-15 non-conference victory at Nazareth College Wednesday afternoon. The Red Dragons stretched their winning streak to nine consecutive games, improving to 10-4 on the season. The Golden Flyers dropped to 5-8 with the loss.

Sophomore Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) recorded three goals and two assists for Cortland, while senior Lauren Hopsicker (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) also netted three goals. Senior Hannah Keech (Penn Yan/Penn Yan Academy) matched Cashman's five points with two goals and three assists. Freshman Gabby Meager (Syracuse/West Genesee) scored two goals, junior Matisyn Schaut (Syracuse/West Genesee) tallied a goal and an assist and seniors Shelby Meduski (East Quogue/Westhampton Beach) and Amy Hoeffner (Bay Shore) each added an assist.

Graduate student Paige Potter (Cortland) made eight saves in goal and collected two ground balls for the Red Dragons. Graduate student Kayla Sweeney (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) finished with two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Cashman contributed three ground balls, Hoeffner and Lorenzen each secured five draw controls and Hopsicker won three draws.

Emmas States led the Nazareth offense with five goals and three assists. Emma Robinson scored four goals, and Reva Mussi netted three goals. Annie Rubel, Eleanor Matz and Liddie Hoare scored one goal apiece, and Kate Metzler chipped in with an assist.

Goalie Emma Prosak registered 11 saves for the Golden Flyers. Emma Parry finished with 12 draws, four ground balls and four caused turnovers. Reed Baker collected three ground balls, and Robinson won three draws.
