CORTLAND, N.Y. – Fifteen different players scored goals as the nationally 21st-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team defeated Fredonia, 21-1, Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons won their 10th consecutive game, improving to 11-4 overall and 7-0 in the conference. The Blue Devils fell to 1-13 and 0-7.

Senior Lauren Hopsicker (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) led Cortland with six points on four goals and two assists. Graduate student Hannah Lorenzen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and senior Hannah Keech (Penn Yan/Penn Yan Academy) each tallied two goals and an assist, and freshman Nicole Iapoce (Clintondale/Highland) also netted two goals.

Junior Rachel Janis (Laurel/Mattituck) and sophomore Danielle Regan (Brewster) recorded one goal and two assists. Graduate student Kayla Sweeney (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker), seniors Amanda Squillini (Stony Point/North Rockland), Amy Hoeffner (Bay Shore) and Katie Goodrich (Jordan/Jordan-Elbridge), sophomores Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach), Julie Kadletz (Shoreham/Shoreham-Wading River) and Allie Alaimo (Wantagh) and freshmen Isabel Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Katie Pego (Mount Sinai) each scored a goal.

Graduate student Paige Potter (Cortland) started in goal for Cortland and did not face a shot on the cage through the first three quarters. Janis played the fourth quarter and did not register a save. Junior Matisyn Schaut (Syracuse/West Genesee) caused four turnovers and collected three ground balls. Janis scooped up four ground balls, Squillini added three caused turnovers and Keech secured four draw controls.

Freshman Audrey Brown (Hilton) scored Fredonia's goal on a free-position shot with just under a minute remaining in the game. Senior goalie Emily Carr (Conesus/Livonia) turned aside seven shots. Senior Allison Polito (Rochester/Churchville-Chii) won five draws, collected three ground balls and caused a turnover. Carr and senior Kendall Shearn (Hilton) each secured three ground balls.
