BALTIMORE, MD. – The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team scored two second-half goals in defeating nationally 10th-ranked Cortland in men's soccer action Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons dropped to 2-2 with the setback. The Blue Jays remained unbeaten, improving their record to 3-0-1.
Freshman goalie
Luke van Galen (Georgetown, MA) made one save for Cortland. Goalie Alex Morgret turned aside six shots for Johns Hopkins, including five in the first half.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Biggs scored what proved to be the game winner in the 63rd minute. Axel Whamond then added an insurance goal in the 79th minute.
The Red Dragons had two chances to get on the scoreboard late, but shots from sophomores
Cade Denlinger (Elizabethtown, PA/Elizabethtown Area) and
Matt Shultz (Oneonta) went wide in the 87th and 89th minutes, respectively, as the Blue Jays earned the 2-0 win.
