CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's soccer team scored a pair of goals in each half and earned a 4-0 victory versus Hartwick College in non-conference action Wednesday night at Holloway Field. The Red Dragons improved to 6-0-3, while the Hawks fell to 0-5-2.
Graduate student
Jayden Kelley (East Berne/Voorheesville) scored twice for Cortland. Juniors
Cam Stone (Ilion) and
Liz Allen (Monroe-Monroe-Woodbury) each added a goal. Sophomore
Katie Cosenza (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) recorded two assists, and graduate student
Jaden Galluzzo (Commack) and senior
Katrina Klammer (Mahopac) collected one assist apiece.
Sophomore goalie
Kristen Spendal (Dumont, NJ) stopped the only shot she faced for the Red Dragons. Senior goalie Sara Staup Woodinville, WA) registered seven saves for Hartwick.
Kelley wasted little time in scoring the game-winning goal, spinning deep in the box and slipping a shot past Staup in the third minute after taking a touch pass from Galluzzo. Stone made it a 2-0 game with her second goal of the season, one-timing a serve from Cosenza under the crossbar in the 38th minute.
Kelley's second goal of the game came in the 55th minute. After Staup made a save on Klammer's long, low shot from the right side, Kelley cleaned up the rebound at the right post for her fourth goal of the season. Allen completed the scoring in the 81st minute when she converted a breakaway off Cosenza's pass for her third goal of the season and the 4-0 final.
