CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team earned victories over New Paltz, 193-100, and Buffalo State, 221-65, in a home tri-meet that was scored as duals between each school.
New Paltz defeated Buffalo State, 164-86, in the other dual. New Paltz was the originally scheduled team to compete at Cortland, with Buffalo State joining the meet after their dual at Cortland in November was postponed due to weather.
Leah Bernhardt (Groton) won three events during the meet, while
Emily Lantry (Massena/St. Lawrence),
Areiannah Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) and
Ashley Zachgo (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) were each victorious in two events. Bernhardt won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:09.56), 200-yard freestyle (2:01.71) and 500-yard freestyle (5:27.98). Lantry captured the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.48) and 200-yard backstroke (2:16.18), Martinez-Reyes won the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.18) and 100-yard butterfly (1:02.64), and Zachgo posted the top scores on both 3-meter diving (433.05 points) and 1-meter diving (448.73 points).
Caitlin Elsasser (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) won the 400-yard IM in 5:06.85 and was second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:22.14.
Mackenzie Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) was runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.81) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:39.78) and
Adriane Casey (West Islip) was second in 3-meter diving (354.45 points) and 1-meter diving (385.50 points).
Sophie Amering (Rochester/Hilton) finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:32.26) and
Nicole Murphy (Saratoga Springs) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (26.41). Cortland also finished second in both relays. Lantry,
Emma Bogdanowicz-Wilson (Schenectady),
Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts) and
Alayna Miller (Hilton) were second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:56.09), while Miller,
Kaila O'Hara (East Islip), Lantry and Dickman were second in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:52.65).
Cortland hosts Division II Le Moyne in a dual meet Saturday at 11 a.m.
