CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior Alex Gagnon (Montreal, QC/Elmira College) scored on the power play with 2:12 remaining in regulation to give the Albertus Magnus men's hockey team a 4-3 win over Cortland Monday night in non-conference play at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons dropped to 8-6-1, while the Falcons improved to 12-4.

Sophomore Anthony Bernardo (Hauppauge/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) recorded a goal and an assist to pace Cortland. Senior Nick Grupp (Depew/Brantford 99ers) and junior Cameron Knowlton (Kenai, AK/Charlotte Rush) each added a goal. Junior Jona Hildreth (Buffalo/Walpole Express) and freshmen Nicholas Serio (Bayville/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) and Colby Seitz (Eden/Corpus Christi IceRays) collected one assist apiece. Senior goalie Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) turned aside 39 shots.

Senior Luke James (Moon Township, PA/Becker College) and freshmen Kyler Campbell (Huntsville, ON/Greater Sudbury Cubs) and Caden Pattison (Lake Stevens, WA/Maine Nordiques) also netted goals for Albertus Magnus. Freshman Austin Cook (West Berlin, NJ/Sherwood Park Crusaders) picked up three assists. Senior goalie Logan Bateman (Ottawa, ON/Elmira College) made 29 saves.

James gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead just 1:24 into the game with a deflection in front. Grupp tied the game at 6:57 of the opening period, scoring from deep on the left side on the power play. Campbell put Albertus Magnus ahead, 2-1, with his first career goal on a rebound at 11:34 of the first period.

After a scoreless second period, Pattison made it a 3-1 score at 4:14 of the third period, scoring on a wrist shot from the right circle. Knowlton pulled Cortland to within 3-2 at 8:47, knocking in a shot from the left side of the slot. Bernardo tied the game at 10:45, wristing a shot past Bateman from the left circle after a Falcon turnover in their defensive zone.

Gagnon scored the game winner just 10 seconds after a Cortland penalty, tallying on a wrist shot from the left point. Cortland pulled Durante for an extra skater with 1:54 to play but couldn't net the equalizer as the Falcons held on for the 4-3 win.
