Game Recap: Field Hockey |

#14 Cortland Blanks Ramapo, 3-0, in Non-Conference Action

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally 14th-ranked Cortland field hockey team closed the regular-season home portion of its schedule with a 3-0 victory versus Ramapo Saturday afternoon at the Stadium Complex White Field in blustery conditions. The Red Dragons improved to 13-1 on the season. The Roadrunners fell to 3-11.

Junior Jamie Snyder (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) led Cortland with two goals. Junior Keirra Ettere (Mahopac/Lakeland) tallied a goal and an assist, and junior Gianna Trunfio (Clinton) added an assist. Sophomore goalie Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) did not need to make a save in posting her sixth shutout of the season.

Junior goalie Michelle Kukan (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) registered 12 saves in 52:02 for Ramapo before giving way to sophomore Erika Roura (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape), who stopped four shots over the final 7:58. Junior Juliana Mikulski (West Deptford, NJ), sophomore Maddie Kulik (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and freshman Rachel Geller (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville) each recorded a defensive save.

Cortland pressured early in the game, earning multiple penalty corners that eventually led to the first goal. Snyder inserted the ball to Ettere at the top of the circle who blasted a low ball toward the cage. Snyder worked in front and deflected a shot past Kukan at the 2:45 mark. Snyder notched her second goal at 10:12. Junior Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld/Holland Patent) sent a hard pass deep into the circle. Trunfio tipped the pass to Snyder who finished off the play with a quick shot in close for her ninth goal of the season.

Ettere made it a 3-0 score 4:03 into the third quarter. Corrigan lifted a shot from the left side that Kukan got a piece of, but Ettere cleaned up the rebound for her 12th goal of the season. The Red Dragons continued to control the play the remainder of the game, but Kukan and Roura combined to hold Cortland from any other scores for the 3-0 final.
