CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's hockey team opened its season with a dominant 10-2 non-conference win versus Lebanon Valley Friday night at Alumni Arena.

Senior Nate Berke (Williamsville/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) led the Red Dragons with two goals and three assists. Sophomore Colby Seitz (Eden/Corpus Christi IceRays) recorded two goals and two assists, and senior Sutter Donegan (Cicero/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and junior Anthony Bernardo (Hauppauge/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) also netted two goals. Junior Domenic Settimo (East Meadow/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) tallied a goal and three assists, and sophomore Evan Beaudry (Mississauga, ON/Kemptville 73's) scored a goal.

Junior Johnny Facchini (Succasunna, NJ/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) registered three assists for Cortland. Sophomore Nick Serio (Bayville/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) collected two assists, while seniors Geordan Buffoline (Ballston Spa/Vermont Lumberjacks) and John Kuhl (Essex Fells, NJ/Boston Jr. Rangers) and freshman Robert Hyde (North Babylon/New Jersey Titans) each picked up an assist. Senior goalie Jack Riedell (Greensboro, NC/Charlotte Rush) turned aside 26 shots.

Senior Blake Tosto (Bloomfield Hills, MI/Florida Jr, Blades) and junior Harris Blackwood (Hagerstown, MD/Rockets Hockey Club) netted the goals for the Flying Dutchmen. Senior Jered Stevenson (Tracey, CA/Wisconsin RiverKings), junior Mason Proskin (Plum Borough, PA/Pittsburgh Pens Elite) and first-year Ethan Hoover (Hershey, PA/New Jersey Rockets) each recorded an assist. Senior goalie Gabriel Pigeon (Saint Remy, QC/Rockets Hockey Club) registered 54 saves.

Cortland led 2-0 after one period of play and took control of the game with a five-goal second period to build a 7-0 lead through 40 minutes. The lead grew to 9-0 early in the third period before Lebanon Valley scored two of the three final goals to make it a 10-2 game.
