Hubbard Earns 100th Career Cortland Win with 1-0 Victory at New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Junior Sydney Reinisch (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) scored her sixth goal of the season with 57 seconds remaining in regulation as the nationally 15th-ranked Cortland field hockey team defeated New Paltz, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action. With the win, Cortland head coach Tiffany Hubbard recorded her 100th career victory at Cortland, and her record now stands at 100-27 in eight seasons.

The Red Dragons improved to 9-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference. The Hawks dropped to 8-3 and 2-1.

Junior Gianna Trunfio (Clinton) assisted on Reinisch's goal. Cortland sophomore goalie Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) turned aside four shots. Junior Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld/Holland Patent) and graduate student Elizabeth Pratt (Saratoga Springs) each recorded a defensive save.

Goalie Gail Comiskey registered four saves for New Paltz. Morgan Woolley and Emily Brown each collected a defensive save.

All four of the defensive saves occurred in the first half. Woolley denied a bid by junior Keirra Ettere (Mahopac/Lakeland) just 4:47 into the game. In the second quarter, Corrigan stopped a shot by Rachel Tama at the 22:18 mark, and Pratt recorded her defensive save seven seconds later on a bid by Hannah Ackerman off a penalty corner. At the 24:01 mark, Brown stopped Reinisch to keep the game scoreless.

The Hawks outshot the Red Dragons, 4-2, in the third quarter, but Morgan turned aside two shots on goal to send the game to the fourth quarter still scoreless. Reinisch tallied the game winner at 59:03 off an assist by Trunfio, and the Hawks were unable to generate a chance at the equalizer as Cortland sealed the 1-0 victory and Hubbard's 100th career Cortland win.
