CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's hockey team improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the SUNYAC with a 3-2 home victory versus Morrisville Sunday night at Alumni Arena in a game postponed one day. The Mustangs fell to 1-4 and 1-3.

Senior Nate Berke (Williamsville/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and sophomore Colby Seitz (Eden/Corpus Christi IceRays) each recorded a goal and an assist for Cortland. Senior Sutter Donegan (Cicero/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) also scored a goal, and senior Geordan Buffoline (Ballston Spa/Vermont Lumberjacks) and junior Domenic Settimo (East Meadow/P.A.L. Junior Islanders) collected one assist. Freshman goalie Hunter Hein (Peoria, AZ/Texas Roadrunners) turned aside 29 shots in his first collegiate start.

Senior Stevie Gerbis (Bradenton, FL/NE Generals) and first-year Khaden Henry (Whitby, ON/Kemptville 73's) netted the goals for Morrisville. Senior Curtis Abbott (Belmont, ON/Brantford 99ers), junior Trevor Grasby (Holland Landing, ON/Aurora Tigers) and sophomore Jacob Black (Fergus, ON/Elora Rocks) each picked up an assist. Senior goalie Garrett Boyonoski (Sault Ste. Marie, ON/Milton Menace) made 31 saves.

Henry gave the Mustangs a 1-0 lead with just under a minute left to play in the first period, scoring from the top of the left circle after a faceoff win by Black. Berke tied the game at 15:58 of the second period with his goal in front on a loose puck.

Donegan gave Cortland the lead 3:24 into the third period with a quick shot from the left circle after a faceoff win by Buffoline. Seitz made it a 3-1 score at 18:07. Berke carried the puck into Morrisville's defensive zone, held the puck and dished a pass across the crease that Seitz deflected past Boyonoski. The Mustangs pulled Boyonoski for an extra skater with 1:28 on the clock, and Morrisville capitalized with 17 second remaining when Gerbis scored on a one timer deep on the left side. After the ensuing faceoff, the Mustangs were unable to lift Boyonoski again, and the Red Dragons kept the puck in their offensive zone to seal the 3-2 win.
