Cortland Earns Convincing 101-41 Home Win vs. CCNY

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Colleen Ames picked up her first victory as Cortland's head coach as the Red Dragons defeated visiting CCNY, 101-41, in a non-league women's basketball contest. 
 
Junior Logan Streety (Elma/Iroquois) led Cortland (1-1) with career highs of 23 points and five steals. She also finished with eight rebounds. Streety hit 10-of-16 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws. Freshman Sophie Bissaillon (East Greenbush/Columbia), in her second collegiate game, recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and sophomore Brianna Cinque (Staten Island/Tottenville) finished with career bests of 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. 
 
Haley Potenza (East Aurora) netted a career-best nine points on 4-of-7 shooting. Sophomore Lily Woodis (Dewittville/Chautauqua Lake) and freshmen Bella Zingoni (Kings Park/Long Island Lutheran) and Fiona Kernaghan (Commack) each netted eight points, with Kernaghan also dishing out three assists. Brooke Tillotson (Marathon) and Abby Wilkinson (Cato/Bishop Grimes) shared the team lead with four assists each. Tillotson also scored seven points, and Mariah Huss (Kenmore/Sacred Heart Academy) totaled five points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals. Karlee Zinkievich (Pavilion) made 3-of-4 shots in a six-point effort. 
 
Kasia Morrison led CCNY (1-2) with 13 points and three steals and added six rebounds. Joscelyn Ramos led the Beavers with 11 rebounds and Ashley Colon scored nine points and blocked three shots. 
 
Cortland led 25-6 after one quarter and 47-16 at halftime. The Red Dragons finished the game shooting 45 percent from the floor, compared to 27 percent for CCNY, and 60 of Cortland's 101 points came from non-starters. Cortland grabbed 28 offensive rebounds, leading to 36 second-chance points.
