PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The nationally fourth-ranked Plattsburgh women's ice hockey team tallied a goal in the first two periods as it earned a 2-0 victory versus 13th-ranked Cortland Friday afternoon in SUNYAC action at the Stafford Ice Arena. The Red Dragons fell to 7-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference. The Cardinals improved to 7-0-1 and 5-0.

Molly Goergen (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie H.S.) registered 29 saves for Cortland. Goalie Lilla Nease stopped 20 shots for Plattsburgh.
Ciara Wall led the Cardinals with a goal and an assist. Mae Olshansky netted a goal, Julia Masotta recorded two assists and Maeghan Forsyth added an assist.
Wall gave Plattsburgh a 1-0 lead 9:41 into the game. Forsyth took a shot from just inside the blue line that was blocked in front. Masotta put the rebound on net that Goergen turned aside, but Wall cleaned up the loose puck on the right side of the crease for her second goal of the season.
The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead into the second intermission with a power-play goal just 19 seconds before the end of the period. Wall sent a shot on goal from the right circle that Goergen stopped. Olshansky one-timed the rebound from the left side of the crease for her second goal of the season.
In the third period, the Cardinals owned a 10-4 shot advantage but Goergen kept the Red Dragons in the game by denying each chance by Plattsburgh. Cortland pulled Goergen with 1:37 to play after a timeout, but the only shot the Red Dragons managed was an attempt by junior
Mia Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) that was blocked by a Cardinal player as Plattsburgh clinched the 2-0 win.
