SCRANTON, PA. – Ten different players scored goals as the Cortland men's lacrosse team defeated Scranton, 21-14, Sunday afternoon in a game postponed one day due to inclement weather. The Red Dragons improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Royals dropped to 2-2.

Tyler Starrett (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) led the Cortland offense with a career-high six goals. Senior

Travis Wagner (Penfield) made 12 saves and collected four ground balls in 59:53 for the Red Dragons before giving way to senior
Matt Stento (Bethlehem), who did not face a shot on goal over the final 1:07. Sophomore
Owen Neubauer (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) won 11 faceoffs and scooped up eight ground balls, and Finn won 10-of-16 faceoffs and secured four ground balls. Senior
Dominick Natale (Homer) recorded three ground balls and two caused turnovers, and Yancey collected four ground balls.
Matthew McAree paced the Scranton offense with four goals. Mitchell Kozak scored a team-high five points on two goals and three assists. Matt Solleder tallied two goals and an assist, Kyle Holmes scored twice and Seamus O'Callaghan registered a goal and an assist. Christopher Crapan, Joe Boyle and Liam Sayre each netted a goal.
Goalie Evan Rosa turned aside 14 shots. Crapan won nine faceoffs, while A.J. Perkell won eight faceoffs. Zachariah Palinkas finished with four ground balls and four caused turnovers, Kozak secured nine ground balls, McAree and Alex Eglitis scooped up five ground balls and Ryan Turck caused three turnovers.
Scranton took a 5-3 lead after the first quarter, but Cortland went ahead, 11-9, at the half with an eight-goal second quarter. The lead grew to 18-11 through three quarters before the teams split six goals in the fourth quarter for the 21-14 final.
