#19 Red Dragons Rout Bengals, 24-3; Hoeffner Hits 100 Career Points

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally 19th-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team scored 20 consecutive goals spanning the first to fourth quarters in earning a 24-3 win versus Buffalo St. Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC play at the Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the conference. The Bengals dropped to 5-7 and 1-5.

Graduate student Amy Hoeffner (Bay Shore) led the Cortland offensive attack with a career-high eight points, matching her career best with five goals and adding a career-high three assists. With her eight points, she reached 100 career points (81-19-100).

Graduate student Hannah Keech (Penn Yan/Penn Yan Academy) tallied six points on five goals and one assist, and freshman Mackenzie Beck (Port Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) also recorded five goals and one assist, setting career highs for goals and points.

Sophomore Nicole Iapoce (Highland) tallied two goals and an assist, senior Rachel Janis (Laurel/Mattituck) recorded a goal and three assists, sophomore Eva Kloepfer (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished with a goal and two assists and graduate student Lauren Hopsicker (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) had one goal and one assist as multiple-point scorers for Cortland. Junior Danielle Regan (Brewster), freshman Rachel Rempe (Aquebogue/Riverhead) and Gwen Laukaitis (Cortlandt Manor/Walter Panas) each netted a goal, and freshman Lauren McCulloch (Loudonville/Shaker) scored her first career goal.

Freshman goalie Margaret Morgan (New Fairfield, CT) was forced to make just two saves as Cortland held the Bengals to only six shots in the game. Hoeffner won 11 draw controls and added three ground balls. Beck caused three turnovers, and Rempe and freshman Emma Dempsey (Brewerton/Paul V. Moore) finished with three draws each.

Junior Sarah Fineour (West Seneca/West Seneca East), sophomore Sage Running Rabbit (Siksika, AB/Strathmore) and freshman Emilee Josker (Hamburg/Frontier) each scored a goal for Buffalo St., while senior Lindsay Wademan (Owego/Owego Free Academy) chipped in with an assist.

Freshman Moira Penot (Clifton Heights, PA/Upper Darby) started in goal for the Bengals, making six saves in 28:04. Freshman Beth Kulikowski (Grand Island) stopped six shots in 31:56. Senior Kacey Stack (Blasdell/Frontier) scooped up three ground balls, won three draws and caused a turnover.
