PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Cortland men's lacrosse team built a commanding 15-3 lead at the half in earning a 20-9 victory at Plattsburgh Saturday afternoon in the SUNYAC finale for both teams. The Red Dragons improved to 12-4 overall and 6-1 in the conference, while the Cardinals fell to 2-13 and 0-7.
Cortland, which earned the second seed in the upcoming SUNYAC playoffs, hosts third-seeded Oswego on Wednesday, May 3, at a time to be determined.

Dante Yacavone (Homer) scored a season-high six goals to lead the Cortland offense. Sophomore

Jason Chiodo (Hamburg) tallied five points on two goals and three assists, and junior
Colton Smith (South Bristol/Penn Yan Academy) and sophomore

Owen Folkwein (Avon, CT) made three saves in the third quarter, and freshman Nick Mathes (Smithtown/Smithtown East) turned aside four shots in the fourth quarter.
Neubauer won 9-of-14 faceoffs and scooped up seven ground balls. Sophomore
Rich Finn (LaGrange/Arlington) was successful on 7-of-13 faceoffs, and freshman
Josue Cruz (Glen Head/Long Island Lutheran) won 4-of-6 faceoffs. Wainwright collected six ground balls, Finn and Cruz each secured four ground balls, and sophomore
Logan Schanars (Melville/Half Hollow Hills East) finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
John Eiseman led Plattsburgh with three goals and an assist. Owen Lorenzetti tallied two goals and an assist. Mike Walsh finished with a goal and two assists, Gustav Rugg recorded one goal and one assist, Michael Swift and Tim Keenan each netted a goal and Cam Morin contributed an assist.
Dan Clements played the first three quarters in goal, registering 12 saves and three ground balls. Jack Mulcahy made four saves in the fourth quarter. Jimbo Farrelly won eight faceoffs. Eiseman, Walsh, Rugg, Julian Pigliavento and Jack Brien each recorded three ground balls.
