ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Nazareth men's lacrosse team outscored Cortland, 8-5, over the game's final 30 minutes to break a tie at the half in earning a 13-10 win Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Red Dragons dropped to 6-4 with the loss. The Golden Flyers evened their record at 6-6.

Dante Yacavone (Homer) paced the Cortland offense with four goals and an assist. Senior
Austin Palmer (Hamburg/St. Francis) netted two goals, sophomore
Klay Stuver (Fairport) tallied a goal and an assist, and seniors
Jason Chiodo (Hamburg) and
Tyler Starrett (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) and sophomore
Caden Yancey (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) each scored a goal. Senior
Troy Morris (Long Beach) and sophomore
Sam Rothman (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) contributed two assists apiece.
Junior goalie
Travis Wagner (Penfield) registered 10 saves for the Red Dragons. Sophomore
Owen Neubauer (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) won 15-of-26 faceoffs and collected nine ground balls. Senior
Justin Wainwright scooped up 10 ground balls and caused two turnovers, and junior
Travis Moehringer (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) secured four ground balls.
Quinn McKercher led Nazareth with four goals and an assist. Louis Cogliandro scored three goals, Matthew Farrington recorded two goals and three assists, Jack McOsker netted two goals, Quinn Conroy finished with a goal and three assists and Greg Bilek scored a goal.
Goalie Eric Almquist made 16 saves. Jakob Denkenberger won nine faceoffs and scooped up six ground balls. McOsker, Ben Chaddock and Chase Dunn each secured three ground balls.
The teams were tied at 3-3 at the end of the first quarter and 5-5 at the half. Five different players scored goals for the Red Dragons, while Cogliandro netted two of his three goals in the half.
The Golden Flyers scored three of the first four goals of the third quarter to take the lead for good at 8-6. Cortland pulled to within 8-7 on Palmer's goal, but McKercher closed the quarter with a goal and McOsker made it a 10-7 game with the first goal of the fourth quarter. The Red Dragons got to within 11-9 with 6:44 remaining, but McOsker and McKercher netted goals at 3:56 and 2:10, respectively, to make it a 13-9 game. Yacavone completed the scoring with 12 seconds on the clock for the 13-10 final.
