GLASSBORO, N.J. – Cortland and Rowan each scored in the first 11 minutes and the teams played to a 1-1 tie in men's soccer non-league action at Rowan. Cortland, ranked 23rd nationally in Division III, is now 4-1-1 on the season. The host Profs played to their fourth tie in five games this fall and are now 1-0-4.
Jason Barragan opened the scoring for Rowan 10:07 into the contest when he one-timed a shot from in front off a crossing pass from Aiden McGuigan. Cortland responded just 52 seconds later when
Riley Williams (Watertown/South Jefferson) scored on a perfectly placed free kick into the left side of the net for his fourth goal of the season.
Cortland finished with slight advantages in shots, 12-11, and corner kicks, 7-6. Red Dragon goalie
Jordan Ott (Fort Worth, TX/Southwest Christian) made four saves, including a diving stop in the final minute to preserve the tie. Rowan goalie Dylan Aportella made seven saves, two of which came in the final five minutes to turn away Cortland threats.
