#18 Cortland Shuts Out St. Lawrence, 4-0, to Remain Unbeaten

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sydney Reinisch (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) scored twice, Keirra Ettere (Mahopac/Lakeland) registered a goal and an assist and Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) made six saves for her second straight shutout as the nationally 18th-ranked Cortland field hockey team remained unbeaten with a 4-0 non-league win over visiting St. Lawrence.
Cortland improved to 7-0 with the victory, while St. Lawrence fell to 3-5. Cortland finished with a 20-7 advantage in shots and a 7-4 edge in penalty corners versus the Saints.

Cortland took a 2-0 lead less than 12 minutes into the contest. Ettere opened the scoring with 4:31 elapsed when she knocked home a rebound after a shot by Reinisch was saved by St. Lawrence goalie Lucy Adiutori, who finished the game with seven saves.

Reinisch got on the board 11:03 into the game when she scored from the left side off a feed from Ettere. The Red Dragons nearly took a 3-0 lead in the first, but St. Lawrence's Kara Dominick made a defensive save right on the goal line after Jamie Snyder (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) made a move to get open and shoot at what appeared to be an empty net.

Reinisch netted her second goal of the game 4:34 into the second quarter to put Cortland up by three. She took a pass at the top of the circle with a defender on her shoulder. She eluded the defender, dribbled into the heart of the circle and took a shot that found a spot inside the right post after a St. Lawrence back nearly made a defensive save.

Cortland closed the scoring with 12:48 remaining in the game. Off a penalty corner play, Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld/Holland Patent) took a give-and-go pass from Isabel Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) across the top of the circle. Corrigan dribbled just into the circle and blasted a shot that deflected off of Adiutori and went into the cage.

Morgan preserved the shutout by making four of her six saves in the fourth quarter.

Cortland travels to Brockport for a SUNYAC contest Saturday at 2 p.m.
