BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The nationally 18th-ranked Cortland field hockey team scored a goal in each quarter in earning a 4-0 victory at Brockport Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons remained undefeated at 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles fell to 7-3 and 0-2.
Juniors
Jamie Snyder (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) and
Gianna Trunfio (Clinton) each scored a pair of goals for Cortland. Junior
Keirra Ettere (Mahopac/Lakeland) recorded two assists, and junior
Isabel Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) collected one assist.
Sophomore goalie
Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) turned aside three shots for the Red Dragons. Goalie Ella Buchanan registered 23 saves for the Golden Eagles.
Snyder gave Cortland a 1-0 lead off an assist from Adams five minutes, 25 seconds into the game. Trunfio made it a 2-0 score on Ettere's first assist at the 17:16 mark. Snyder's unassisted goal at 33:13 pushed Cortland's lead to 3-0, and Trunfio completed the scoring with her team-high eighth goal of the season with 3:40 remaining in the fourth quarter for the 4-0 final.
Cortland outshot Brockport, 30-7, in the game and held a 10-6 advantage in penalty corners.
