POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Cortland women's soccer team scored a pair of second-half goals in defeating Potsdam, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons improved to 6-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Bears fell to 2-4-2 and 0-2-2.
Graduate student
Jayden Kelley (East Berne/Voorheesville) scored a goal for Cortland. The Red Dragons also were credited with an "own goal." Freshman
Tyla Vuotto (Lynbrook) assisted on Kelley's goal.
Junior goalie
Kristen Spendal (Dumont, NJ) made four saves in posting the shutout for the Red Dragons. Goalie Savannah Bowie registered five saves for Potsdam.
Although Cortland outshot Potsdam, 9-3, in the opening half, the Red Dragons managed just one shot on goal that Bowie denied. The Bears put two of their shots on the frame.
Kelley scored the game winner in the 55th minute, her fifth goal of the season, off an assist from Vuotto. Just over five minutes later, a Potsdam defender knocked the ball in her own goal to make it a 2-0 game.
