Red Dragons Run Away Early in 83-50 Victory at Fredonia

FREDONIA, N.Y. – Cortland raced out to leads of 26-7 after one quarter and 52-15 at halftime and the Red Dragons defeated host Fredonia, 83-50, in a SUNYAC women's basketball contest. 
 
Cortland improves to 11-4 overall and remains in first place in the SUNYAC standings with a 7-1 record. Fredonia is now 7-7 overall and 2-5 in the league. 
 
Logan Streety (Elma/Iroquois) led Cortland with 27 points, a career high, along with 11 rebounds. She scored 12 points in the first quarter and had 21 points at halftime. Emily Morano (Olyphant, PA/Mid Valley), returning to action for the first time since the season opener, scored 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting in eight minutes off the bench. 
 
Brooke Tillotson (Marathon) finished with nine points, followed by Lily Woodis (Dewittville/Chautauqua Lake) with eight points and Abby Wilkinson (Cato/Bishop Grimes) and Brianna Cinque (Staten Island/Tottenville) with five apiece. Kaeli McAnally (Islip) led the Red Dragons with four assists and Mariah Huss (Kenmore/Sacred Heart Academy) ended with three assists and five rebounds. 
 
Allie Wandell led Fredonia with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting and Sarah Seaman scored 10 points. 
 
Cortland shot a blistering 73 percent from the field (22-of-30) in the opening half compared to just 20 percent (6-of-30) for the host Blue Devils. The Red Dragons finished the game at 55 percent and Fredonia ended at 32 percent. 
 
Cortland's lead fluctuated from 32 to 39 points in the third quarter and was as high as 41 points midway through the fourth period. 
 
Cortland plays at Buffalo State Saturday at 2 p.m.
