#15 Cortland Pulls Away with Big Third Period in 9-0 Win vs. Buffalo St.

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally 15th-ranked Cortland women's ice hockey team scored five third-period goals in just over an eight-minute span to pull away to a 9-0 victory versus Buffalo St. Friday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons improved to 9-3-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the conference, while the Bengals dropped to 1-11-1 and 0-7.

Senior Jillian Hlasnick (Olean/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) and junior Meggan Cramer (Cicero/Northwood School) led Cortland with two goals each. Freshman Katie Mahoney (Toronto, ON/Toronto Leaside) tallied a goal and two assists, and junior Natalie O'Brien (Lockport/Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) and freshman Drew Kopek (Rome/Syracuse Valley Eagles) recorded a goal and an assist.

Sophomore Hayley Hunter (Pulaski/NAHA) and freshman McKenzie Brown (Peru/Lowell Academy) each netted a goal for the Red Dragons. Graduate student Dany Donegan (Cicero/Syracuse Nationals) collected three assists, sophomore Fanny Aneborn (Linkoping, Sweden/Lulea HF Sweden) contributed two assists, while six others each added one assist.

Cortland freshman goalie Maggie Dickinson (Bowmanville, ON/Toronto Leaside) raised her record to 3-0, making 18 saves for her second shutout of the season. Junior goalie Jessica Auge (Laingsburg, MI/Honeybaked Detroit) turned aside 56 shots for the Bengals.

The two teams meet again at Cortland on Saturday at 3 p.m.
