CORTLAND, N.Y. – The nationally ninth-ranked Cortland field hockey team posted its eighth shutout of the season as the Red Dragons blanked visiting Marywood, 3-0, in non-league action.
 
Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) made eight saves and Anna Healey (Holland Patent) added a second-quarter defensive save for Cortland, which improved to 11-1 on the season. Sabrina Frazer made four saves for Marywood (8-5).
 
Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld) scored two goals and Jamie Snyder (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) had a goal and an assist for Cortland, which won despite being outshot, 12-10, by the Pacers.
 
Corrigan gave Cortland the lead just over seven minutes into the game when she took a pass near the top of the circle during a penalty corner play, dribbled through two defenders and scored from about 10 feet away. The Red Dragons went up 2-0 with 2:08 left before halftime when Snyder stole the ball on the right side, dribbled in and deposited a shot into the left side of the cage.
 
Marywood outshot Cortland in the third quarter, 5-1, but Morgan made three saves in the period to keep the Pacers off the board. The Red Dragons closed the scoring with less than six minutes remaining in the game when Corrigan took a penalty corner insert pass from Snyder and blasted in a shot from the left side.
 
Cortland, which has outscored its opponents by a 44-2 margin since Sept. 7, returns to action next Saturday with a 1 p.m. SUNYAC game at Oneonta.
