ONEONTA, N.Y. – Keirra Ettere (Mahopac/Lakeland) and Gianna Trunfio (Clinton) each scored twice as the nationally eighth-ranked Cortland field hockey team earned a 7-1 victory on the road over Oneonta in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on Saturday afternoon. Cortland is now 12-1 (3-0 SUNYAC) on the year, while Oneonta drops to 7-7 (1-2 SUNYAC).

Ettere's two goals came on six shots on goal for Cortland, while Trunfio registered a game-high 10 shots on goal. Jamie Snyder (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) Sidney DeMagistris (Gloversville), and Sydney Reinisch (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) each had a goal and an assist, while Hanna Corrigan (Barneveld/Holland Patent) recorded an assist. Emma Morgan (Whitney Point) made one save in goal for her 12th victory of the year. Anna Healey (Holland Patent) also made a defensive save.

Oneonta's goal was scored by Alexandra Howell and assisted by Erin Clark, while goalkeeper Maura Leib made 15 saves for the hosts.

The first quarter was scoreless despite Cortland holding an 8-0 edge in shot attempts. In the first minute, Ettere was denied two by saves from Leib, and Trunfio was stopped on back-to-back shots just past the midway point of the period.

Ettere got Cortland on the board in the first minute of the second period with her 11th goal of the season. In the final five minutes of the half, Trunfio gave Cortland a 2-0 lead with her seventh goal of the year.

Cortland scored twice in the third quarter, kicked off with a goal by Reinisch off of a feed from Snyder on a penalty corner. Ettere added her second goal of the game with five minutes remaining in the frame off of an assist from DeMagistris. Oneonta got on the scoreboard with Howell's goal with under two minutes remaing in the period.

In the fourth quarter, Cortland scored three more times to secure the victory. Snyder netted her eighth goal of the year off of a feed from Corrigan just over three minutes into the quarter. Reinisch fed DeMagistris for another goal with four minutes left, and Trunfio completed the scoring in the final minute of the game.
