CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team used victories in 11 individual events and both relays to defeat visiting Alfred State, 178-101, in a dual meet at Holsten Pool.
Ayden Baxter (Marlboro) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.87) and 200-yard IM (2:06.08), the latter as an exhibition entry.
Hunter Sugrue-Neuendorf (Valley Cottage/Nyack) earned wins in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:02.39) and 50-yard freestyle (22.59), while
Makiah Poli (Cortland/Home schooled) won the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.08) and 100-yard butterfly (56.79).
Mason Rowlands (Campbell Hall/Washingtonville) was the 1,000-yard freestyle winner (10:44.52) and
Dom Fratto (Waterloo/Geneva) captured the 100-yard backstroke (54.97).
Michael Tomasino (Lake Grove/Sachem North) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.18),
Sean Zupko (Montgomery/Valley Central) was the 200-yard backstroke winner (2:04.51) and
Lucas Gannon (Schenectady/Mohonasen) won the 500-yard freestyle (5:17.00).
The 200-yard medley relay of Poli, Sugrue-Neuendorf,
Kellen Dickman (Montgomery/Valley Central) and
Peter Brelesky (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) earned top honors in 1:38.70. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Sugrue-Neuendorf, Fratto, Rowlands and
Dylan Monaco (Lynbrook) won as an exhibition entry in 1:29.68.
In diving, both
Kevin Kohlhoff (West Islip) and Kazuki Kadota-Browner (Jericho) met the NCAA regional standard on the 1-meter board - Kohlhoff in second at 311.03 points and Kadota-Browner third at 308.25 points. Kohlhoff has now met the NCAA standard twice on the same board (1-meter), qualifying him for the NCAA regionals next Feb. 28-March 1. Kadota-Browner hit the mark for the first time.
Cortland will travel to Ithaca next Saturday for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
