Cortland Women Finish Third at TCNJ Invitational

Ryann Redmond placed fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle
EWING, N.J. – Leah Bernhardt (Groton) and Morgan Hannon (Hyde Park/Franklin D. Roosevelt) each won events and Bernhardt and Alayna Miller (Hilton) each posted runner-up finishes as Cortland finished in third place out of seven schools at the TCNJ Women's Swimming and Diving Invitational Friday through Sunday.
 
Stevens Institute on the team title with 1,166 points, followed by TCNJ with 879 and Cortland with 739.5. The Red Dragons posted that score despite missing two events on Friday due to a late arrival because of the weather. Merchant Marine Academy finished fourth (391.5), New Paltz was fifth (290), West Chester finished sixth (52) and Montclair State was seventh (36).
 
Bernhardt won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 17:59.97 and was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.80. Hannon captured the 400-yard individual medley title in 4:46.59 and Miller was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.97 seconds. Miller also recorded a fifth-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle (55.62) and Hannon was fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.42).
 
Julia Bryce (Rochester/School of the Arts) tied for third place in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.75). Alyssa Haberlack (Long Beach) finished third in 3-meter diving with an 11-dive score of 335.00 points and was fifth in 1-meter diving with an 11-dive total of 332.20 points.
 
Ryann Redmond (Floral Park/Floral Park Memorial) finished fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18.21.55) and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.04). Tristinye Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) was fourth in the 400-yard IM (4:57.00) and eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.36). Samantha Matthes (Saint James/Smithtown East) placed fifth in 3-meter diving (294.55 points) and seventh in 1-meter diving (282.45 points), Caitlin Elsasser (Merrick/Sanford H. Calhoun) finished seventh in the 400-yard IM (5:04.17, 5:03.97 prelims), Areiannah Martinez-Reyes (Queens/Benjamin Cardozo) was seventh in the 200-yard butterfly (2:19.04) and Mackenzie Mulcahey (Oswego) finished seventh in 3-meter diving (252.05 points).
 
Cortland recorded nine top-eight relay finishes at the meet, including four third-place finishes: Cassidy Torres (Brooklyn/High School for Health Professionals & Human Services), Ella Garrow (Peru), (Tristinye) Martinez-Reyes and Miller in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:41.74); Emily Lantry (Helena/St. Lawrence), Garrow, Miller and (Areiannah) Martinez-Reyes in the 200-yard medley relay (1:53.05); Redmond, Hannon, Bryce and Bernhardt in the 800-yard freestyle relay (8:07.46); and Bernhardt, Torres, Hannon and Miller in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:43.86).
 
(Tristinye) Martinez-Reyes, Torres, Hannon and Bernhardt were fourth in the 400 medley relay (4:09.32) and Lantry, Garrow, (Areiannah) Martinez-Reyes and Miller were fifth in that same event (4:09.69). Peyton Glor (Tonawanda/Mount Saint Mary Academy), Torres, (Tristinye) Martinez-Reyes and Erin Galligan (Rochester/Our Lady of Mercy) finished sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:55.03), Sophie Amering (Hilton), Lantry, Glor and (Areiannah) Martinez-Reyes were sixth in the 800 freestyle relay (8:33.63), and Lantry, both of the Martinez-Reyes's and Galligan were seventh in the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.26).
