Cortland Opens SUNYAC Play with Convincing 68-39 Win vs. Potsdam

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's basketball team turned 19 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points as the Red Dragons opened SUNYAC play with a 68-39 win over visiting Potsdam.
 
Cortland (4-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) posted its fourth straight win. The Red Dragons will host Plattsburgh Saturday at 1 p.m. - one hour earlier than the originally scheduled time.
 
Joleen Lusk (Cherry Valley/Cherry Valley-Springfield) led Cortland with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She made 7-of-15 shots from the field. Jackie Funk (Penfield) finished 6-of-10 from the floor, including two 3-pointers and scored 14 points. Kaeli McAnally (Islip) hit her only two shots, both from the arc, and ended with six points and four assists. Brooke Tillotson (Marathon) added five points, five rebounds and three assists and Sophie Bissaillon (East Greenbush/Columbia) chipped in with five points and four boards.
 
Barbara Bruno and Jenna Cotter led Potsdam (3-4, 0-1 SUNYAC) with 10 points apiece and DaeLynn Alcock scored eight points. Bruno and Amya Moore shared the team lead with five rebounds each.
 
Cortland led 7-0 four minutes into the game and 16-8 after one quarter. The Red Dragons used a 10-2 run over the final 4:31 of the second quarter to lead 35-18 at the break. Funk hit two 3-pointers in the first minute of the third quarter to push the lead to 23 and the margin grew to 30 later in the period. Cortland's lead held between 29 and 31 points the entire fourth quarter.
