MEDFORD, MASS. – Twelve different players scored goals as the nationally third-ranked Tufts women's lacrosse team defeated 24th-ranked Cortland, 19-4, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Bello Field. The Red Dragons, playing their third consecutive game versus a ranked team, fell to 2-3. The Jumbos improved to 5-0.
Nicole Iapoce (Clintondale/Highland) led Cortland with a pair of goals.
Natalie Bennett (Latham/Shaker) and
Isabel Adams (Burnt Hills/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) each netted a goal, and
Toni Cashman (East Moriches/Westhampton Beach) picked up an assist.

Margaret Morgan (New Fairfield, CT) stopped five shots and scooped up three ground balls in 41:06 for the Red Dragons before giving way to
Trinity Parks (Binghamton/Chenango Forks), who turned aside four shots in 18:54.
Julie Kadletz (Shoreham/Shoreham-Wading River) registered three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Rachel Rempe (Aquebogue/Riverhead) won three draw controls,
Amanda Squillini (Stony Point/North Rockland) collected two ground balls and Adams caused two turnovers.
Margie Carden scored a game-high three goals for Tufts. Allie Zorn tallied a game-best six points on two goals and four assists, Elsa Schutt contributed two goals and two assists and Emma Joyce, Alexa Amorosino and Schuyler Lloyd each netted two goals.
Ella Lesperance finished with a goal and two assists, while Kate Deehan, Madeline Delaney, Sadie Dodson, Lucy Hodge and Kate Mastrobuono scored one goal apiece.
Pascale de Buren started in goal for the Jumbos, making three saves through the first three quarters. Sophie Powless stopped two shots in the fourth quarter. Kathryn Fernandopulle finished with six caused turnovers and four ground balls. Conaghan added three ground balls, and Genna Gibbons won seven draws.
Iapoce opened the scoring 2:26 into the game, but Tufts strung together nine straight goals to take a 9-1 lead early in the second quarter. Iapoce stopped the run with her second goal of the game before the Jumbos closed the half with three goals for a 12-2 advantage at intermission.
The lead grew to 15-2 late into the third quarter until Bennett's goal. Tufts then opened the fourth quarter with four goals in a row before Adams completed the scoring with 34 seconds remaining for the 19-4 final.
The Red Dragons return to action next Wednesday with a non-conference game at St. John Fisher.
