CORTLAND, N.Y. – Fourteen different players scored goals as the Cortland men's lacrosse team defeated Plattsburgh, 25-9, Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action at Grady Field. The Red Dragons improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Cardinals fell to 4-6 and 0-1.
Sam Rothman (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) led the Cortland offense with a career-high eight points, matching his career best with five goals and adding three assists.
Ryan Scanlon (Cornelius, NC/William Amos Hough) netted four goals,
Nick Stoecker (East Setauket/Ward Melville) scored three goals,
Caden Yancey (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) tallied two goals and an assist and
Bobby Kratochvil (Setauket/Ward Melville) scored his first two goals of the season.
Matt Franzoni (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan),
Frank Neeson (Orchard Park) and
Stefan Swedlund (Randolph, NJ) each recorded a goal and an assist for the Red Dragons.

Nick Pomilio (North Raleigh/Jesse O. Sanderson),
Nathan Nagengast (Bay Shore),
Joe DeLany (Camillus/West Genesee),
Aidan McHugh (Maine/Maine-Endwell) and
AJ Surian (Bay Shore) netted a goal, while
Caden Morra (Farmingdale/Plainedge) dished out four assists.
Travis Wagner (Penfield) started in goal for Cortland, stopping six shots through three quarters.
Charlie Falowski (Redding, CT/Joel Barlow) made one save in 12:23, and
Owen Folkwein (Avon, CT/Avon) did not record a save over the final 2:37.
Rich Finn (LaGrange/Arlington) won 11-of-13 faceoffs and scooped up six ground balls. McHugh secured 9-of-15 faceoffs with six ground balls.
Conner Gallagher (Northport) finished with four ground balls and three caused turnovers, and
Christian Lembo (Farmingdale) collected six ground balls.
Donald Woods led the Plattsburgh offense with three goals. John Eiseman scored twice. Ely Bruhns, Timmy Wood, Dylan Irvine and Anthony Faber each netted a goal. Tim Keenan recorded three assists, and Chris Falborn added an assist.
Dan Clements started in goal for the Cardinals and registered 13 saves in 51:37. Jack Mulcahy played the final 8:23, turning aside four shots. Kyle Ruland scooped up a game-high eight ground balls, while Logan Jones and Irvine each contributed three ground balls.
Cortland led, 5-1, after the first quarter and stretched its lead to 12-2 at the half. The Red Dragons put the game away by outscoring Plattsburgh, 7-4, in the third quarter to take a commanding 19-6 advantage into the final 15 minutes of play. Cortland finished the game with a 6-3 edge in the fourth quarter for the 25-9 final.
