CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland men's lacrosse team opened up a 12-2 lead at the half and went on to earn a 17-6 victory versus Oneonta Saturday afternoon at Grady Field in SUNYAC action. The host Red Dragons improved to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in the conference. The visiting Red Dragons dropped to 6-7 and 2-3.
Sam Rothman (Dix Hills/Half Hollow Hills East) paced the Cortland offense with seven points on a career-high six goals and an assist.
Klay Stuver (Fairport) recorded three goals and an assist, and
Nick Stoecker (East Setauket/Ward Melville) finished with two goals and two assists.
Six other Cortland players netted one goal on the day.
Caden Yancey (Fayetteville//Fayetteville-Manlius) tallied a goal and three assists,
Ryan Scanlon (Cornelius, NC/William Amos Hough),
Bradley Cunningham (Syracuse/West Genesee) and
Ryan Eccles (Syracuse/Corcoran) each contributed a goal and an assist and
Alex Thrasher (Vestal) and
Bobby Kratochvil (Setauket/Ward Melville) scored a goal.
Sean Kavanagh (North Canton, OH/Hoover) chipped in with two assists.

Travis Wagner (Penfield) made nine saves and added two caused turnovers and two ground balls for the host team.
Rich Finn (LaGrange/Arlington) won 9-of-11 faceoffs.
Dino Bowen (Yorktown) scooped up four ground balls and caused two turnovers,
Travis Moehringer (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers,
Tucker Macknik (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) collected a team-high five ground balls and
Conner Gallagher (Northport) secured four ground balls.
Thomas Hnis and Anthony Munro led Oneonta with two goals apiece. Matthew Krieg and Stephen Barikyan each scored a goal, while Aidan Boyle, Eric Nicholson and Johnny Terrana collected an assist.
Goalie Harrison Boukas turned aside 16 shots and scooped up three ground balls. Barikyan won nine faceoffs and finished with a game-high six ground balls. Ray Raefski controlled three ground balls, and Aidan Greene caused two turnovers.
After the teams were tied at 1-1 early in the first quarter, Cortland ran off four consecutive goals from four different players to grab a 5-1 lead after the first 15 minutes of play. The teams traded goals to open the second quarter, but the host Red Dragons took control of the game with a six-goal run to close the half with a 12-2 advantage. Rothman netted three of his goals during the stretch.
The lead ballooned to 16-3 late in the third quarter before the visiting Red Dragons netted the last two goals of the third quarter and the teams each scored a fourth-quarter goal for the 17-6 final.
